I tricked my family with Chicken Cheating
Too many days, too
many confessions :D
Halfway Mom
I always knew that am not the supermom type and when I discovered
that I can’t swoon with gastronomic pleasure nor climax while experimenting with ingredients, I gave up even before trying. I scandalize my loved ones when I divulge
that food doesn’t make me feel complete.
So, there it goes, am not the complete woman but too late
now, my habits are irreparable!
Though the fact that I like it when my son compliments me on
my cooking (I have to fill empty plates and growling stomachs, every day!),
or when my friends derive pleasure when they get the rarest of rare chance to indulge
their taste buds in stuff I somehow manage to rustle up, leaves me a tad bit bewildered.
I guess it’s because they are the generous types and don’t wanna endanger whatever association I have with food (I eat sparsely too).
Now, that’s not enough to pull me to my kitchen threshold to
churn recipes, I only do it when there is absolute necessity like for breakfast,
lunch, tiffin, supper, dinner and teas several times over. That doesn’t make me a decent
enough cook or compel me to love cooking. Though I enjoy being in my kitchen.
But
wait, I meant to look around the neatly arranged dishes and gadgets and
other paraphernalia and not disturb them unless it’s utterly essential.
On that note, I made Chicken Cheating yesterday, named so by
virtue of the fact that I fooled around with the procedure, time and ingredients too.
Have a dekko!
Just to douse your curiosity, I marinated boneless chicken
breast pieces overnight with herbs, spices, crushed garlic (optional), sauces and olive
oil, and made small incisions all over. Half an hour before lunch, I let it simmer in its own juice and cooked it
partially then transferred it on the grilled pan and made it crispy. Then quickly
chopped garlic, bell papers, mushrooms (plus baby corn if you want), and sautéed
the mixture in olive oil sparingly and added salt, lemon juice and sauces (as
per preference). There, Chicken Cheating with a side of sautéed veggies is
ready to be served with bread, rotis or paranthas if you want. Finish it off with
some sweet dish or yogurt. Quantity based on number of people you wanna serve.
My son and hubby loved it, and this is how I usually get
away with trick recipes. Unless, there is heavy demand for plain simple Indian meal consisting of a minimum of three food items!
P. S.: I still don’t enjoy cooking!
